Hilldale Community Association
Welcome to the Hilldale Community Association website

The Hilldale Community Association was founded in 2003 to promote community spirit and to bring the people of Hilldale together.

The HCA is an entirely volunteer led and run charity.  Every adult resident in Hilldale is automatically a member of the HCA - there is no membership fee.

We run the annual Hilldale Fair and Fun Dog Show as well as other events from time to time.  See the Events page.

We also use our funds to improve the village amenities:  see the Projects page.

Hilldale is a rural parish and community in West Lancashire [in the UK] which has about 300 homes, a pub, several business and farms.

The website will be updated from time to time with news including The Fair, other Events, Newsletters, Local Information (with links to local schools and other organisations, Local History and getting Out and About) and there's a Gallery of photos taken at various events in Hilldale and some of Old Hilldale.
If you live in Hilldale or have lived here in the past, please visit the website from time to time to see what we are up to.

The Hilldale Coffee Morning

30th October- is the date of the next Coffee Morning.  We start serving at 10:30 so please come along for all of the usual goodies: hot and cold drinks, cakes, tray bakes and freshly prepared bacon and sausage barms or sandwiches.  The cakes, bacon and sausages are all sourced locally.

Some good news for a change:

Joan Halkett was recently presented with a British Citizen Award for services to education.  The Award was presented by Dame Mary Perkins at the Palace of Westminster.  Joan was nominated by Richard Durning's School because, for 20+ years, she has turned up every morning to hear the younger children read. Her 1:1 reading sessions are valued by the children and parents alike.

What else is on?

COVID-19 - Remember, IF YOU NEED HELP and you live in Hilldale, ASK for HELP.

AmazonSmile

We recently signed up to Amazon Smile to help with fund raising.  If you use AmazonSmile for just some of your purchases you'll be helping the HCA to raise funds for projects around the Village.

DOG POO

Not a pleasant topic but unfortunately topical as there seems to be more of it about in Hilldale.

It’s very unpleasant to step into dog poo and it’s a health hazard.

It’s unacceptable – and illegal – not to pick up after your dog whereever you are in the area.

So, please just do it, please, for the benefit of us all.

It's up to everyone to pick up after their own dog and, when they see dog fouling taking place, to report it to West Lancs B.C.

PLEASE do not post images of your dog poo finds on our Facebook page.  The HCA is a voluntary community association and does not have any powers or the resources to police this matter.

PLEASE SUPPORT THE HCA.

Unless more residents become involved on a regular basis, the HCA will wither on the vine and then there won't be any events.

So, PLEASE support the HCA by becoming regularly involved.

Yes, we have meetings - we couldn't organise "things" without them - but they are informal and we try to keep them as short as possible.

If you'd like to help, email us on hello@hilldale-ca.org and we'll let you know what's happening.

And, if you have any ideas about what the HCA does or how it is run or events - PLEASE get involved.

DONATE TO THE HCA, please

Fund raising is a priority so that we can hold the Coffee Mornings, arrange entertainment evenings, run the Hilldale Fair and carry out small community projects.

We only survive on the money we raise from events and grants but grants are increasingly difficult to obtain.

You can donate by BACS - the details are here - or by cheque payable to Hilldale Community Association or in cash by coming to an event.
